Before becoming a full-time writer I was a professional violinist, attending the Eastman School of Music and playing with the Rochester Philharmonic. Getting a job in the Adelaide Symphony was how I first came to Australia. I find many parallels between music and writing, and love exploring them in my blog.
With my connection to both America and Australia, I set my stories in one of these countries. My first three thrillers are set in New England in the northeast corner of the US. No Good Deed is my first book set in Australia with others to follow.
As president of Eyre Writers, I'm active in my local writing community. Several times a year I organize retreats for a group of writer friends at a remote seaside camp where we spend an entire week doing nothing but writing!
I'm also a member of Australia's Sisters In Crime, Romance Writers of Australia, and International Thriller Writers based in New York.
Over the years my passions have included knitting, spinning, gardening, photography, and anything to do with nature. I’m a life-long animal lover and for ten years ran a donkey sanctuary on our family's farm in Port Lincoln, South Australia where we still live.
